Starting the disassembly of the Mach 1 today.
Stripping this muscle car down to bare metal. This will allow us to see any hidden body damage and make sure this paint job last a long time.
Ralph is working on the repairs to the passenger quarter and passenger outer door skin today.
We love doing muscle car restorations. This one is a rare 1969 Mustang Mach 1.
For this restoration we are only doing the body, paint and interior. Removing all trim, bumpers, lights, glass, door, weatherstripping, etc. We do this to make sure that our client gets a very complete paint job and we miss no area. After that Ralph stripped the paint off the vehicle and went to bare metal. This assures that there is no hidden rust in the vehicle that could pop up later. Once the vehicle was to bare metal Ralph cut out any rusted areas and replaced it with good metal. After that we etched and sealed the vehicle. Finally we are using skim coats of fiberglass filler around the vehicle to smooth our repairs out.
We are also mechanically restoring this car. A rebuilt engine and transmission. Rewiring the vehicle. Installing new steering suspension and brakes. New fuel lines, brake lines, etc..
Once the vehicle is painting back to the original color, using our house brand of Spies Hecker paint we will install a fresh new interior and assemble the body.
This last week Ralph wrapped up the body work and Dan primed the vehicle.
Today Ralph has been working on blasting the engine bay to get it ready for paint.
Today Dan painted the engine bay, inner fenders and firewall.
