Our client has contracted Precision Restorations to finish the restoration on his beautiful example of a 1966 Pontiac GTO.
This particular client wants to do a little restoration and a little customization. On the restoration end we are going to paint the vehicle and restore parts of the interior. On the customization end the client is having us install Global west suspension, Baer disk brakes for the front and back of the vehicle and having us install a modern fuel injection system.
Our client wants to be able to hop in his vehicle drive it where he wants and get back without issues and that is what we plan to do for him.
Dave has just started the job and so far has dropped the gas tank, removed the sway bar, removed the fan, and is getting the old carbureted system off of the vehicle. Keep watching as this 1966 GTO gets transformed.
Dan has been working on getting the engine set up for the new fuel injection system and removing the rest of the cooling system.
Dave has removed the instrument cluster assembly out of the 1966 GTO in preparation for the rally gauge install.
The new aluminumn radiator and electric fans came in today. We also have taken ownership of a new 700R4 transmission for this build. Dave is currently working on installing the radiator fans and the new shift indicator lens for the center console.
Dave is installing the rear disk brakes and emergency brakes today.
Dave has recieved the wheels, fuel injection system and the MSD ignition system for the GTO and has started the install on the ignition system.
Dave is working on assembling the new ralley gauges today and Larry is working on straightening the wheel wheels and repairing body damage.
Larry has repaired the grilles and Dan is painting them.
Front end bolt kit has been media blasted, primed and painted and hood has started to be sanded down in preperation for paint.
Larry is working on assembling the GTO and sanding it in preparation of paint.
Mike has finished sanding the GTO today. Next step will be paint.
The interior is removed from the GTO in preperation of the new carpet for this muscle car restoration.

The covertible top is up and working and the three point seat belts are installed in the rear.

All the sanding and buffing is done for this muscle car restoration. A quick sand and buff will be done at the end of the job for any minor imperfections.

More of the molding and interior are coming back together for this 1966 GTO. Also the new set of wheels and tires are coming together.
Dave and Josh are finishing up the mechanical items on the GTO. Such as, the wheels and tires, wiring and transmission lines.
Chaco has removed the old convertible top off the GTO. The new top will be going on tomorrow.
Chaco is installing the new cloth top today. This GTO finally looks like a complete vehicle.

Mike is working on installing the custom stereo for the GTO. So far that has included making and installing custom boxes for the rear speakers and working on fabricating a custom enclosure for the new Alpine head unit that will go in the glove box.
Mike installed and completely wired up the new Ralley gauges today.
Gene has the team here finishing up the final items on the GTO. One item that they have finished up with is the spatter paint in the trunk. When you are doing a muscle car restoration it is the smaller details that count.

Among other things Dan is getting the new brake booster installed for the GTO today.
Dan is masking of the GTO to repaint the door where we did a little body work.
Mike installed the new head unit in the dash right below the new a/c vent and right above the new a/c controls. It looks really nice!
Dave is installing the Global West suspension for the 1966 GTO. This is a top of the line suspension system that includes tubular upper and lower control arms, QA1 coilovers, sway bars and more. This car will handle like a new car with all the looks of a classic car.
Dave is installing the 700R4 transmission into the 1966 GTO.
We have recieved all the upgraded brake components from Wilwood Brakes. Dave will start putting this together tomorrow.
Dave is getting the upgraded Wilwood front brake kit installed today.
Now that Dave has finished installing the front disk brakes, we have handed the vehicle off for a little while to the body guys to test fit all the panels and make sure that any needed adjustments are made before paint.
Mike is working on repairing the tail light covers, the hood vent and the fenders.
Alex is repairing some rust found on the drivers floor and laying down the carpet and Dan is masking for paint.
The Silver paint has been applied to the GTO. Lookin’ Good!
