This awesome ’68 Chevelle turned out just right! It came to us in great condition, it wasn’t rusted out, it just needed the right work done to it to really sent it over the top. When we were done this thing was great. New fabric top, all kinds of great body work and paint, some perfect paint…
We started out with the best treatment, media blasting to bare steel. Then we replaced the floors, trunk, we straightened the frame and the core support. We fixed the dents of course, and any body rust. We re-plated much of the chrome, reconditioned much of the stainless, replaced weatherstripping, and all the nice items that make a car look terrific.
Next we attacked the mechanical side of the car. We installed correct springs, replaced the starter, new battery, new ignition switch…all the normal stuff that a good car needs to be great.
One challenge this car presented was correcting some earlier body work that had been done incorrectly. The quarters had been damaged, and they’d taken some liberties with the convertible top opening lip, rear glass mechanism mounting, jamb dimensions. But hey, if it were easy!
